The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has added $5 million to the Charge Ready NY program which offers $4,000 rebates to public and private organizations that install Level 2 EV charging stations at public parking facilities, workplaces, and multifamily apartment buildings. This announcement brings the program’s total budget to $12 million. Since launching in September 2018, the program has supported more than 1,800 charging ports, of which over 1,000 have already been installed.

Charge Ready NY is just one of many programs in New York supporting the expansion of the charging network statewide. Governor Cuomo outlined ambitious transportation electrification plans in this year’s State of the State address. The new strategy includes a directive for utilities in the state to invest in a make-ready EV charging initiative that will coincide with statewide goal of deploying 850,000 zero-emission vehicles by the end of 2025. Expansion of the state’s charging network is estimated to provide New Yorkers with more than $2.6 billion in net benefits and supports the achievement of the State’s transportation electrification and clean energy goals.
