On December 27, 2018, Alabama released its Draft Beneficiary Mitigation Plan that outlines their use of $25.5 million in VW settlement funds. A breakdown of the funds by action item is included below.
Alabama is proposing to allocate funds to every eligible mitigation action proportionally divided based on current emissions reported by the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2014 National Emissions Inventory (with some adjustments).
The state will accept written comments on the draft plan for 30 days after its public hearing held on January 15, 2019. Written comments may be submitted via email at vwsettlement@adeca.alabama.gov.
