North Carolina Releases Draft Mitigation Plan and is Accepting Public Comment
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has released their Draft Mitigation Plan that outlines the state’s intended use of their $30.68 Million settlement. The DEQ proposes to allocate investment in phases, using 30% of overall funds during their Phase 1 period (2018-2020).
During Phase 1 the DEQ will allocate funds through five different programs as follows:
School bus replacement program: 35%
Transit bus replacement program: 20%
Clean heavy-duty on-road equipment program: 10%
Clean heavy-duty off-road equipment program: 15%
Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure: 15%
The DEQ is seeking input on this draft plan through five stakeholder information sessions and e-mail comments to: daq.NC_VWGrants@ncdenr.gov.
