On December 10, 2019, the Hawaii Department of Transportation (DOT) issued an RFP seeking proposals for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, which could be solar-powered, statewide through a 10-year service contract.

This RFP will address the electrification of state fleets in order to make progress towards Hawaii’s clean energy goals including emission reduction in alignment with the Paris Agreement, 100 percent renewable energy by 2045, a carbon neutral and zero emission economy by 2045, and enhanced self-sufficiency through a lower dependence on imported fuels. The state has already made significant progress towards transportation electrification, designating the entire VW Settlement allocation to EVs and EV charging.

The request for proposals is written to allow other government agencies to participate if they would also like to electrify their fleet vehicles. Proposals must be received by 2:30 p.m HST on January 14, 2020
