In September 2020, the Commission proposed to approve Duke Energy Carolina, LLC’s proposed Electric Transportation Pilot. The approved program includes a Residential EV Charging Utility Management Program, DC Fast Charging Program, Education/Outreach and Ongoing O&M. The Application includes reporting and education and outreach for each program. The approved program doubles the originally-proposed funding for DC fast charging stations and doubles the expected number of DCFC stations from 20 to 40. The approved program also changes the accounting mechanism from a regulatory asset to a review for prudency and potential recovery in a subsequent base rate case. The approved program also includes the utility’s withdrawal of the school bus and transit bus charging programs.
