SUMMARY:EV Hub Live Episode #42: Powering Up With Hosting Capacity Maps
DESCRIPTION:Hosting capacity maps for electricity distribution grid are becoming increasingly critical as electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure rapidly expands across the United States. These maps help project developers make informed decisions on where to optimally deploy EV chargers\, ultimately lowering infrastructure costs and accelerating project timelines. In this episode of EV Hub Live\, Lucy McKenzie from Atlas Public Policy will be joined by representatives from Commonwealth Edison (ComEd)\, along with Midhat Mafazy from the Interstate Energy Renewable Council (IREC)\, to explore the benefits and challenges of hosting capacity maps. As organizations actively involved in researching and implementing these maps\, ComEd and IREC bring valuable perspectives to the discussion. The episode will stream live on Tuesday April 15th at 2:30pm EST.

SUMMARY:Good\, green jobs: Preparing for an inclusive electric freight workforce
DESCRIPTION:Globally\, road transport accounts for more than 60 million direct jobs\, representing over 2% of global employment. Freight makes up a large proportion of these jobs – by 2030\, light truck or delivery service drivers are predicted to be the second largest growing jobs globally. The transition to electric transport is underway\, and the changes are bringing new workforce challenges and opportunities. \nThis white paper\, ‘Good\, green jobs: Preparing for an inclusive electric freight workforce’\, focuses on assessing the workforce implications of decarbonising and electrifying the urban freight sector in North and Latin America. It gives an overview of what the common workforce needs\, barriers\, inclusivity opportunities\, and training requirements are likely to be\, and highlights public and private sector case studies which have the potential to address these evolving workforce requirements. Finally\, there are high-level recommendations for cities and the private sector to support the creation and growth of good\, green jobs in urban freight. \nC40 Cities will be discussing its new white paper on the electric freight workforce on Tuesday\, March 25th. \nRegister here: Webinar Registration – Zoom

SUMMARY:Right-Sizing E-Mobility
DESCRIPTION:A substantial portion of daily travel in the U.S. takes place using vehicles that are significantly overpowered for a substantial portion of travel needs: 86 percent of trips in the U.S. are taken in personal vehicles designed to travel at highway speeds\, yet more than half of daily trips in the U.S. are under 5 miles and the average occupancy of vehicle trips in the US is 1.5 persons.  These statistics point to a “missing middle” of transportation options in the U.S. that are right-sized to meet the needs of many local\, daily trips. Many of these trips are too far to walk but too short to necessitate a personal vehicle. Right-sizing e-mobility means giving Americans opportunities to safely use smaller-format\, low-speed vehicle types.  Join to learn about the new resource from the Joint Office\, Right-Sizing e-Mobility. \nThis webinar will cover:  \n\nVehicle options in the “missing middle\,” including e-scooters\, e-bikes\, e-cargo bikes\, and low-speed vehicles.\nHow right-sizing addresses equity\, safety\, and land use efficiency.\nSustainability advantages of right-sizing mobility.\nAnd more!
