The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) is proposing to amend 6 NYCRR Part 218, Emission Standards for Motor Vehicles and Motor Vehicle Engines to incorporate California’s latest revisions to its low emission vehicle III greenhouse gas (GHG) program for model years 2021-2025. In addition, the amendment clarifies the provision that allows vehicle manufacturers to demonstrate compliance with the federal GHG standards in lieu of California’s more stringent standards in response to the US EPAs intent to roll back existing GHG standards for those model years.
